The south mountain region and the forest beneath is where we begin. I thought discussion would be more free form this would not facilitate correspondence for fact checking or surety of portrayal in story or character. Kind of ‘gainst it. we’ll see
ok, so the first one, then it’s easy peezy? cool, so..
A 0 lvl session. The hopes and fears of the common place TTV PC become far to important in comparison to the very real active world mechanics a builder has spent so much time developing. When the players come to the table with reservations and expectations or dear god hidden agendas, The DM notices Immediately!
This being my initial instalment as DM in ANY online D&D campaign, My instincts warranted this pallet cleansing exercise. Though a DM since 7 years old ,my portfolio stretching 40 years in world building.
NPC’s of the bqasic variety {lol} are 0 level, they Might have 1 skill (barely proficient) but have really no profession, and certainly no combat expertise nor xp. Hence not level 1. They have not studied and are uninitiated into life.
I began to tear down all the crutches PC’s have grown so dependent upon. Engaging their own higher thought processes to better know their idea of D&D ttv as well as introduce my seasoned aptitude in storytelling and group developed campaigns that find the world becomes increasingly hostile the further from directives they subvert.
Attributes are commonly rolled in blocks, with characters able to choose where they are placed.
I needed players to sense their inability to control their own narrative coming into the world, so Deeply entrenched with Lore (from 30+ years of groups across the world, campaigning , lol) Each was directed to roll 4d6, remove the lowest die, & place sequencially into attributes. Allowing advantage roll for a 7th cast to replace the lowest, though not in order [the adv cast is CHR regardless what roll is removed].
Choose your Race as fitting the attributes you were Karma’d. skip the class as they were 0 level.
Lastly The most base of equipment, maybe a weapon, tools if racially inherent[dwarf, pickaxe for digging, elf cloak maybe dagger or sling @ best]
Then begin…. This exercise I attended for providing my personal point of reference, for surety of dice and to reinforce3 very important aspects I feel D&D has always had difficulty maintaining.
Attributes: ranging from 1 to 20 (legally and non supernatural), PC’s struggle with inferiority complexes over a character that has a stat lower than 14! This is very problematic, it says #1 you don’t trust the story, or the dice, or your role play to keep you alive..? That’s not even accurate. 10 is the average fully grown adult stat as they would see even in their peek of life! Average is pretty good! an average difficulty=10. ergo, average person rolls a 10= success. modifiers for high stat is just icing, not the reason for the success, only assisting the chance for better/ worse.
regardless, The stat itself is illusory and deceptive inn its part within the story and even in game mechanics. It is one of the most invoked definers DM’s call for, but it is only 1 possible out of many.
The Back story: #2, A PC Loves to weave themselves into your world as if they were there already, (perhaps, yet that is not for them to define.)
PC’s Responsible for defining their characters actions, and even thoughts, but certainly choices; to DM, for him to relegate those effects upon his NPC’s, Ecology, Terrain, basically everything in the world except the players.. Yet the backstory I have noticed is Allways where the great imaginations lay the foundation to become the story, If that is their intention, it is very obvious there. The player that has planar or dragon blood background, usually is shooting for DM to give them the Superman clause. Yet, never; (not once in all my campaigns) has any of the players met the criteria to play The chosen one., let alone The Chosen One. I’ve had a couple aptly portray monk, yet untimely fail the pious journaling required most monastery.
I Regardless, Choice of class and backstory free from the game, 1 hit point hopefully giving players se4nsibilities, I will require them to draw upon to keep themselves as well as their compatriots alive later on, & certainly prerequisite Immortality and sponsorship as Deity of a sphere (lesser deity of another Sphere also required to be a deity, even Demi-god)
Lastly, I drew from the pot! Dipping my random lfg into a community nexus for the pool of players (minus my most seasoned player [baring my sibling] & his wife). As such, I needed to assuage and place values of Karma, Morality, Etiquette & Dharma. {alignment is far to overrated & more used by players to fudge a system till they want to make the big move and break the world[though not always the case, it has been very close to 50/50 on how a player shall end up in my campaigns]}
Each player received 1 Karma point, with this point they could (during character creation yet before race choice) raise an attribute +2! Or hold onto that Karma and allow it to grow alongside them, as they played their character this “Shadow/Avatar” grew in xp alongside them. yet, to the player It was this “get out of jail free” when in truth it was their spirit{astral}/soul{ethereal}/Akashic{ancestral}/Ascension Transcendental Pilgrimage root form to the power of n, compressed sync’d concurrently and delighting in their victories, hopefully sending warnings for caution at their potential demise! Some God tears adventuring to ensue, indeed I imagine the players expecting this from day 1. Yet again, If not They will learn!

Bloodgrue rejoins the 0 to Holy RPG DnD campaign on Wednesdays, of Mythrandor559 on 11/30/21.
After giving up his royal ascension crown and sword to the newly resurrected Elven High King, (Myth also called him the Elven Emporer), Bloodgrue was teleported to the last known location of his travelling companions. With his new homunculus infusion pet, which Blood calls, Perve, Blood joins Fynn and Elphies along with the 13 other companions in capturing and reclaiming the Spelljammer planar ship, repairing damaged components.
In the capturing of the ship, Blood adds a Clock Work Behir, Blood names Bea, as a companion to his repertoire of pets, as well as a Steel Champion he names Steve.
Fynn captured Deck 5 Engineering from a Steel Grey Golem. While another party member, Vassago, defeated a Mind Flayer capturing Deck 6 Bridge.
