I started building this world for gaming and story creation in 1983. Since then, eight novels, nine serial short story series and three blogs were written using this world and since 1983 five gaming campaigns extending over a period totalling 20 years of playing in RPG tabletop pen & paper as well as two message boards, such as Ruku, and open online campaigns have happened.

An average of four to eight players, with up to, in one we had a challenge campaign group for every weekend over a three-month stretch, of a twenty-one player group. Typically running groups of eight players.

The longest-running campaign was a twelve-year run of a nine-player group running for two ten-hour days every weekend. A player group named Heroes Anonymous.

KenShuMC DMed those and Aria cohosted the group, co-writing also the group and the blog, Bard & Dragoman.

This setting is the Kingdom of North Amara beginning in the city of Mount Oryn, North Amara, Quantos

Races typically played: Humal (As homebrewed Humans(Generally as Jalnoric, Toydon, Tedon)), Elf, Gnome, Dwarf, Shes (As homebrewed Orcs (as Shespan, Shestan or Sheskan).

Chronology: This Quantos campaign is starting two cycles after the naming of the River Quilil. fifteenth Cycle of Dollan IVth. The 12th cycle after Goddess Tymyka defeated the war god Tearlain.

This webpage is for the updates of the campaign and the place for background, history, world and stories of North Amara and Quantos as told by Kenneth Shumaker, Aria and Rusty Knight.

The stories and games of North Amara and Quantos are set in a medieval fantasy setting told in several serial short story series, novels and game content that have been written from its world setting. Original material is from the gaming groups and homebrewed campaigns of Knights of the Square Table group Hereos Anonymous DMed by Ken Shumaker.

Several stories have since been told in the Laret: Darkness of Souls series novels, Larret Army: Rising Souls, and the multi-year running weekly blogged short story series, Bard & Dragoman (2014 – 2018), the years-long online serial short stories and traditionally published, Bloodgrue (Books and short story series, 2006 – 2017), Lanis, Morgus, Markus and others in over 350 episodes from 2009 to 2018. Also content from the Ruku text storyboard gaming group Knights of the Square Table. (2004 -2008, 2009 – 2014) as well as Medium, Patreon, Niume board and Virily board content (2010 -2018).

The Quantos campaign gaming project by the KnTST Clan community with InUPress Broadcasting and InUPressMC Gaming takes place in this medieval fantasy world of Quantos.

Quantos world has three continents, of which most of the story’s development takes place on the largest continent. This of which the large humal (human variant), (three races of humals) kingdom of North Amara resides. Along with the major Shes kingdoms of the Shespan to the west and Shestan to the north, and a smaller humal nation in the far south.

Nestled among the wilderness regions of the continent are elven realms of High, Forest, Dark and Wild Elves. Deep and Hill gnomes reside in the southern and northern mountains, as do reside conclaves of Mountain, Hill and Druegar Dwarves. Of all which races intermingle with the humal, creating different half-breed races.

Also, various tribes of Ogres, kobolds, goblins, trolls, scraggs, and gnolls reside in villages in the river, wild and ocean regions. In some areas are known to reside various giant races. In the mountains, forests and deserts, there are a few dragons still remaining. In the mountains reside a race of giant poisonous carnivorous spiders.

The continent of the North Amara kingdom is equatorial geographically, with the equator running through the southern region of the kingdom, and Mount Oryn’s District 13. The kingdom has mostly temperate geography flora, fauna, and biology.

2 – Imvor, Yellow, intermediate god of WAr

Three night-gods (moons) orbit Quantos, staying mainly on the dark night-lit side.

1 – Ikerus – Larget of the three – orbits 5-minutes

37 minutes ahead of

2 – Ibon, middle-sized of the three, intermediate god, Fate & mischievousness

followed 32 minutes ahead,

3 – Joyn, smallest of the three, lesser god, agriculture

The world’s day/night cycle is evenly split into the twenty-hour day cycle, into two halves of about ten hours each.

The nights are so dark it is hard for many to see more than two feet without a light source.

The kingdom time is kept in four 90-day seasons a Cycle (year). Divided into three 30-days sections called (season)1, (season)2 and (season)3. There are seven Cycles in a Term. An Eon is a thousand Cycles.

Most Shes (orcs), dwarves, elves and humal (humans) worship the half-even goddess bard, Ta’myka, who saved them from eternal damnation and torment by defeating the ravaging cannibal warmongering Warlord King humal (Tedon), god Tearlain. Some still worship Tearlain. Almost all also worship one of the seven gods of their race.

Though there is a pantheon of seven gods for each race. The humal were reduced to five, by Tearlain during the god wars. The Elves lost two, as the dwarves lost one god to his ravages. The Shes lost three. Most races swear by the number seven, as there are known to be Seven Hells as well. Even the dragons and giants follow seven gods and have seven demons. As there are also known to be the Seven Hells.

The humal seven hells are ruled by demons and devils in their respective domains. These are overseen by the Greater Overlord Demon Asguard, the Undead Platinum Dragon. Friend and aide to Ta’Myka.

The seven gods are:

  • Greater god
    • Stonewire – Stars, Neutrality, Southern Hemi-sphere
    • Ta’Myka – Chamberlain of Council of Seven Overlord Gods – Time, Bards, War, All, her domain is in Southern Hemi-sphere
  • Intermediate gods
    • Imvor – Fire, Wardens, Northern Hemi-sphere
    • Ikerus – Fate, War, Hunting, Rangers, Northern Hemi-sphere
    • Lorn – Healing, Central Meridian
  • Lesser gods
    • Ibon – Mischief
    • Oryn – Mischief, Trade
    • Joyn – Wind, Southern Hemi-sphere
    • Bloodgrue – Dragomen, Rogues, Central Meridian
  • Demi-gods
    • Jessep – aide to Ta’Myka – Trade, Bartering, domain attached in TaMyka’s

As the North Amara and god’s defender, Ta’Myka is an intermediate goddess.

Stonewire is a greater god who sits The Primary on the god’s God’s Council of Seven, the oversite council of all god pantheons. Ta’Myka sits as the third Council on the Seven. The Council of Seven also consists of, two Elven gods, (Leaf, Wood elf Queen, & Arrow, male High Elf Archer), two Shes (Aga, Female Shestan Farmer, & Garn, male Shestan Commander), a Dwarf (Stonemind, female Deep Dwarf), Gnome (Silverpipe, Female Deep Gnome), a Greater Demon (Barasa the Greater), Dragon god (Darcen, the male Greater Ancient Wyrm, Platinum) and a Giant’s god (SoulFire, male Fire Giant) who all also sit as the council.

A little background on the Shes (Orcs). Three known races of Shes. There is the western Shespan kingdom of a Matriarchal warrior-led oligarchy. Then in the north of the continent, north of the mountains to the north of the Humal North Amara kingdom are the Shestan. The second-largest Shes kingdom is ruled by a War Council of Seven and their supreme Overlord.

The smallest of the three kingdoms and least hostile led by Shamanistic females are the Sheskan on the southern tip of the continent. Shes are typically smallish with Olympian strength and dexterity races of greenish-brown skin. Typically standing less than 5 feet tall and around 130 #s.

Strengths (+2) in ranges of 16 to 18 or more as well as dexterity (+1). Wisdom suffering (-1) being a rash spontaneous reaction type personality. Their heads have a kinkyish black wiry hair grown long and usually braided. Males tend to have beards but no mustaches. Eyes tend to be brown for Shespan, Sheskan and black for Shestan. Canine teeth tend to grow longer and sharper. Each race speaks their own Shes dialect.

The Shes have their own pantheon of seven gods. In addition, the Shestan also worships the dead god Tearlain and the Sheskan worship the goddess Ta’Myka. Many members of the Shespan will worship either of the two causing many conflicts. A few of the Shes gods were killed in the gods’ wars by Tearlain and have not yet been replaced.

Shes society is agrarian primarily raising herd animals for labour, building, clothing, and food resources. Many different skilled trades are centred in villages and towns.

Each Kingdom has a capital city where the rulers reside. A tough road system exists in Shespan and Shestan. Most communities are fortified against hostile raids.

There is a white dragon and a gold dragon known to reside in Shespan and a Black and a Blue dragon residing in Shestan. While there are known Unicorns respected residing in Sheskan.

Rough sketch of North Amara

North Amara

In the kingdom of North Amara, there are two cities and one large wide long river which links them. The approximate population of North Amara is 134,200.

The River was cursed to have no name for one thousand years by the greater council of gods. The curse was finally lifted two Cycles ago and King Dollan IV and the Mage’s Council decreed the River be named the Quilil.

There is the Capital city of Mount Oryn in the center of the kingdom on the south bank of the Quilil river, where the castle of King Dollan IV is in District 1. Where he is with the ruling Council of Seven.

The Mage’s University and the University of Esoteric Arts are in the city as well down south near the mountains in District 13. A couple of College of Bards, and a robust Thieves Guild system which is led by the Lesser god, Dragoman Bloodgrue, as well as many tradesman and crafters guilds and a bustling farming and trade industry flesh out the communities of the city’s 13 different Districts.

There are nine major Districts and four subdistricts.

A well-trained and outfitted Royal army central base headquarters resides in District 1. Also, Ta’Myka’s Royal Guards, the Royal Blue Marines barrack here, with one or two Barracks Outposts residing in each District.

Several temples, shrines, rings, and churches to various gods and used by clerics, druids, shamen, and monks have residences as well.

Further notes that citizens’ knowledge base of North Amara.

In most locations, the churches divide the territory up among the race’s seven gods dependent upon the size of the base of followers. The one exception to this is the realm of Ta’Myka has been given leeway to erect shrines, churches, and temples anywhere as the defenders of the realm of Quantos.

Defenders, known as, Bards of Time, of Ta’Myka wearing the 2″ Silver hand harp in front of a shortsword, holy symbol are shown deep respect by all races, or rogues of Ta’Myka known as Blood of Ta’Myka, with their symbol of the Ta’Myka harp in front of a copper coin. The ranks of the bard and rogue are shown by the number of gold strings, five at the lowest then six, seven and so on up to twelve strings of Ta’Myka herself.

Each god’s followers on Quantos use 2″ silver holy symbols for recognition of status.

For worship structures, there are four main types. first is the smallest, the ring, a set of stones set as a place of worship that might have one small structure associated with it. The ring has no attendants, primarily a source of worship for Druids and Shaman.

Shrines typically are single buildings with one or two, druids/priests/shamans attending to them.

Churches are more complex setups with a bigger main building and two or three outbuildings, three to ten attendants of any god worshipping class.

Temples tend to have a huge main structure up to six or seven secondary buildings plus up to ten other outbuildings, As many as thirty or forty attendants of all ranks, including the acolytes.

Spertan is a carnivorous river fish that ravenously devour anything organic, especially meat, which enters the waters it inhabits. Some specimens caught have been recorded as being over 40″ long pointy-toothed mouth to tail.

All members of, Bloods of the First Rank, have a variation of a silver harp embedded on their coin, depending on their position.

Quantos

The population of Quantos is roughly 47,200 people.

Many misplaced racial refugees reside in racial refugee camps in seven different districts.

Then there is the less fortunate coastal trade port city of Quantos, on the Topaz Ocean to the west.

The god wars ravaged the city of Quantos, on the west coast. Much of the terrestrial warring took hold here. The street battles decimate much of the once luxurious beautiful city.

The elegant stonework of palisades and archways, canals and streets, luxury homes and businesses of the upper-class and traders were destroyed by machines of war.

The city is now home to thieves, mercenaries, bards and priests.

Both equal in size and population, Quantos is less fortunate wealth-wise as the city recovers from the attacks during the wars. Poverty and disease are more prevalent here as are prejudices, judgement and mistrust.

The surviving foreign immigrant warriors used in the battles from the second continent of Tearlain now reside in this city.

Built-up of seven Districts, Quantos, the harbour is built up to dock districts shelter on the north by mountains on the south by the Falsade cliffs. Divided in the centre by the mouth of the river.

Mount Oryn

The population of Mount Oryn is approximately 68,900 people.

The River Quilil was cursed to have no name for one thousand years by the Greater Council of gods. The curse was finally lifted two Cycles ago and King Dollan IV and the Mage’s Council decreed the River be named the Quilil. The river is the northern border is the city.

The Capital city of Mount Oryn is in the center of the kingdom, whereas the castle of King Dollan IV is in District 1. Also located in the Castle District is the ruling Council of Seven.

The Mage’s University and the University of Esoteric Arts are in the city as well. They are located in the south in the eastern portion of District 13.

A couple of Colleges of Bards and a robust Thieves Guild system are led by the Lesser god, Dragoman Bloodgrue, as well as many trades and crafters guilds and a bustling farming and market industry flesh out the communities of the city’s 13 different Districts.

There are nine major districts and four subdistricts in the city. The city extends 60 -69 km south of the Quilil river and 15 – 36 km east to west.

One of the primary power and support groups of Mount Oryn is the rogue guilds. The others are the Skilled Trades Guilds, the Crafters Guild and the two military groups: Ta’Myka’s Royal Blue Marines and the policing royal army, Noble Army’s, Honor Guard. There is no policing force other than the Honor Guard.

A well-trained and outfitted Royal army resides here in Noble Army Posts in each district. Also, Ta’Myka’s Royal Guards and Royal Blue Marines barrack here, with one or two Barracks Outposts established in each District.

There are several temples, shrines, rings, and churches to gods with buildings, conclaves, and residences as well.

One of the primary power and support groups of Mount Oryn is the rogue guilds, tunning through the Blood Rogues community leadership.

There are various rogue guilds that attempt to hold power as best they can depending on their size and the territory they can defend.

A rogue of the Blood Rogue guild is recognized by his copper coin pinned to his left breast. All rogue guild members of all guilds are recognized by the coin token they carry. Very few openly display this token.

The Blood Rogue’s enamel dot at the center of their copper coin denotes the rogue’s rank. An apprentice initiate typically is a blue dot which is dependent on which field he is associated with, the same as the red dot is for the next rank the Pad.

The next rank the sergeant is a silver dot, the lieutenant is green, and the captain is gold.

All members of, Bloods of the First Rank, have a variation of a silver harp embedded on their coin, depending on their position.

The other groups are the Trades Guilds, the Crafters Guilds and the two military groups: Ta’Myka’s Royal Blue Marines and the policing royal army’s, Noble Army.

There is no policing force other than the Noble Army.

Each guild is further broken down into factions and which faction controls which district is dependent upon the area’s resources and training centers. At the top of the power grid, placing just under the Churches, which co-host their top place with the Nobility, is the Blood Rogues rogue guild, a leader of the guilds groups.

District 4 rough Map

Of the thirteen districts, District 4 is the northernmost on the south bank of the Quilil River.

District 4 stretches east-west for 39 km, starting in the east at the north-flowing tributary from the southern mountains the Quilil River. The district reaches south about twelve km, on average. In District 4 there are 22 distinct separate communities connected by a network of roads and trails.

A couple of the District 4 communities are the river shore village in the west, Riverbend, Population of roughly 350 tradesmen, fishermen and farmers. With a resident Torg Rogues guild lair and a Shrine to Stonewire serving its population.

For religious community followings, Humal religion in District 4 is common knowledge. The Church of Ta’Myka with its residing Dara’Mor is the mid-centre of District 4. The Ta’Myka Prime Church is in District 6. There are two temples, six shrines, and four circles of Ta’Myka within District 4. But Ta’Myka takes the second seat to the following of Stonewire with their two churches, three temples, eight shrines, and six circles in District 4. 8 km inland to the east a bit is the poverty-driven community of Lower Haven, with a rough population of around 760, near the Royal Blue Marine’s Post 4, 4 km to the west. Lower Haven has a Shrine of Ta’Myka with a resident Dara. In the west near Riverbend 3 km north of Lower Haven is a 6-acre shallow lake called, Spirit Lake. It is stocked naturally with Whitefish and Spertan fish several of which reach 26″ or longer.

A third community is Eastmor a community of roughly 1,000 people artisan and tradesmen west of Lower Haven about 6 km. Eastmor is a Trogs rogue guild community and has two shrines, Ta’Myka and Ibon.
